Melbourne, Australia (January 18, 2025): In the only women's third-round match at the Australian Open featuring two Grand Slam champions, Poland's star Iga Swiatek showcased complete dominance, defeating Emma Raducanu 6-1, 6-0 to advance to the next round. After the match, Swiatek said, "It felt like the ball was listening to me."

Explaining further, Swiatek added, "It was as if wherever I aimed, the ball would go there." She then brought her hands closer together, showing that this was a very small gap compared to other days when such precision was not achieved.

A five-time Grand Slam champion, Swiatek is currently ranked second in the world, behind Aryna Sabalenka. Her powerful spinning, high-bouncing forehands, quick sneaker scrambles, and exceptional returning make her nearly unstoppable.

Meanwhile, in the men's draw, last year's US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz was defeated by 38-year-old Gael Monfils with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1), 6-4. Monfils became the only player aged 38 or older to reach the fourth round in Melbourne since the field expanded to 128 players in 1988.

In other news, two young Californians, 19-year-old Learner Tien and 20-year-old Alex Michelsen, made their Grand Slam fourth-round debuts.

While Raducanu's fight against Swiatek was commendable, Swiatek was flawless, finishing with a 24-9 winner's advantage and just 12 unforced errors. After her powerful performance, a spectator shouted, "No mercy!" during the second set.
