British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that the UK will provide Ukraine with a "mobile air defence system" and further enhance military cooperation with Ukraine. This agreement is part of a 100-year partnership signed with Ukraine.
Starmer met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on Thursday and signed a long-term agreement, which promises joint efforts to ensure Ukraine's security and independence. The agreement focuses on increasing Ukraine's military strength and boosting cooperation in Ukraine's defence industry, recognizing Ukraine as a future NATO ally.
Starmer stated that the UK would provide Ukraine with a "mobile air defence system" and create new security frameworks in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea, and Sea of Azov. He further emphasized that Britain's support and cooperation with Ukraine reflect the "deep friendship" between the two nations.
Additionally, the agreement commits both the UK and Ukraine to increase cooperation in the fields of defence, energy, and trade.
Starmer said, "The power of our long-term friendship cannot be underestimated. Through this partnership, we are creating a strong economy for the British people, a safe country that protects our internal and external interests, and building a prosperous society."
