Arsenal are confident of finalizing a deal with Real Sociedad midfielder Martín Zubimendi next summer, and following confirmation that Gabriel Jesus has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that will keep him out until next season, they will intensify their efforts to sign a new striker in January.
Zubimendi, who rejected an offer to join Liverpool last year and chose to remain at Real Sociedad, is understood to have seen progress in talks recently. The 25-year-old, part of Spain's Euro 2024 championship-winning team, knows that Arsenal's interest is genuine, and they are prepared to pay his €60 million (£51 million) release clause.
As a result of this, Arsenal, who are currently searching for a forward option, will make an effort to sign a new striker quickly since their first choice, Gabriel Jesus, will not return until the next season due to his serious injury."
