Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei Could Be Directly Targeted – Hints Israeli Top Official
Amid the recent retaliatory strikes between Iran and Israel, a senior Israeli official has hinted that Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei could be directly targeted.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the senior Israeli official stated:
“The assassination of Iran’s supreme leader is definitely not off the table. This conflict will only end either when Iran voluntarily dismantles its nuclear program or when Israel destroys it in such a way that Tehran can never rebuild it.”
According to a report by Channel 12, a senior political source said:
“Israel is not ruling out the possibility of eliminating Ali Khamenei, but it depends on many factors.”
This statement suggests that Israel's military operations may not be limited to merely neutralizing Iran's nuclear program, but may also aim to dismantle Iran's entire political leadership structure.
The Israeli official further revealed that recent Israeli strikes have caused “significant damage,” including structural collapses at the heavily fortified Natanz nuclear enrichment facility.
Additionally, on Saturday night, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched an attack in Yemen, targeting Mohammed Abd al-Karim al-Ghamari, a top military commander of the Houthi rebel group, the Jerusalem Post confirmed, citing the IDF.
An Israeli source noted:
“Whether this strike was successful, we will know very soon.”
Iran-Israel Escalation
The ongoing crisis in the Middle East intensified after Israel launched a major offensive early Friday morning named “Operation Rising Lion,” targeting Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
At the start of the operation, Israel reportedly assassinated several top Iranian officials, including the head of the Revolutionary Guard Corps, the air force commander, and a former national security chief.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the campaign as:
“A targeted military operation aimed at neutralizing the Iranian threat to Israel’s existence.”
In retaliation, Iran fired missiles at various locations in Israel, including the port city of Haifa. Earlier, Israeli forces had launched devastating strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure and fuel facilities.
