📍 New Delhi, May 7: In response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, the Indian Armed Forces have launched targeted strikes on terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation, named "Operation Sindoor," was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

🔴 Strikes on 21 Terror Bases:
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, a spokesperson for the armed forces, stated that the operation targeted 21 locations. These include: Sawai Nala, Saeed Na Bilal, Maskar-e-Aqsa, Chelabandi, Abdullah bin Masood, Dulai, Garhi Habibullah, Batrasi, Balakot, Oghi, Boi, Senasa, Gulpur, Kotli, Barali, Dungi, Barnala, Mehmuna Joya, Sarjal, Muridke, and Bahawalpur.

🟡 India’s Stance:
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikrant Misri, Colonel Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh clarified that “the strikes were conducted to ensure justice and solely targeted terrorist infrastructure—no Pakistani military installations were attacked.”

🟢 Militant Group Admits Losses:
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a banned terrorist organization, admitted that it suffered casualties in the strikes. The targets included camps of other proscribed groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen.

🔵 Pakistan’s Reaction:
Following the operation, Pakistan’s military launched heavy mortar shelling on villages along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch and Rajouri sectors. Shelling was reported in Krishna Ghati, Shahpur, Mankote, Laam, Manjakote, and Gambhir Brahmana.

✈️ Flight Suspensions & Drills:
Commercial flights in some parts of northern India were temporarily suspended. In addition, mock drills were conducted in various states as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

🌐 UN Concerns:
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) held a closed-door meeting to discuss the escalating tensions. While no joint statement was issued, Pakistan claimed its “core objectives were partially achieved” during the discussion.
