President Joe Biden has appointed Bangladeshi-American Osman Siddique as a member of the National Security Education Board (NSEB)

M. Osman Siddique is the son of the late Professor Dr. M Osman, the eleventh Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University. He is the brother of Dr. Osman Farooq, a former Education Minister of Bangladesh.

President Joe Biden has appointed Bangladeshi-American Osman Siddique as a member of the National Security Education Board (NSEB)


M. Osman Siddique is the son of the late Professor Dr. M Osman, the eleventh Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University. He is the brother of Dr. Osman Farooq, a former Education Minister of Bangladesh. Information about Siddique’s appointment has been obtained from a statement published by the White House.

The statement said that the National Security Education Board (NSEB), consisting of 14 members, provides strategic direction and oversight for the National Security Education Program. The National Security Education Program provides skills guidance and support through various fellowships and awards, including the David L. Boren Scholarship and Fellowship. Its aim is to enhance the national capacity of the United States in understanding and communicating with foreign cultures and languages effectively.

The NSEB comprises experts primarily from beneficial institutions and academia who provide valuable assistance in the national security education initiative, along with six members appointed by the President.

Osman Siddique is the first American Muslim and Bangladeshi-American to serve as the United States Ambassador and Chief of Mission in Fiji, Nauru, Tonga, and Tuvalu from 1999 to 2001.
