Ukraine interested in mineral resource deal, agreement to be signed soon — President Donald Trump
Washington, March 24 — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is hopeful a revenue-sharing agreement regarding Ukraine’s significant mineral resources will be signed soon.
While speaking to reporters during a meeting with his cabinet members, Trump mentioned that the United States is in talks with Ukraine to allow American companies to own power plants in the country.
A U.S. delegation held meetings with Ukrainian officials last Sunday, and on Monday, discussions were also held with Russian officials in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Although the discussions primarily focused on a ceasefire in the Black Sea region, Trump said that other issues have also emerged — particularly regarding ending Russia’s three-year-long war against Ukraine. Trump added, "We are now talking about territorial boundaries and energy. Some people are saying that the United States should own the power plants because we have the expertise in this area."
