Former Bangladesh cricket captain and current TV commentator Tamim Iqbal is currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Savar after suffering a heart attack. He was hospitalized after collapsing on the field during a match in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) on Monday.

According to a post on Tamim Iqbal's Facebook page, he underwent an angiogram as per the doctors' advice, and a stent was placed in his heart. He is currently under intensive monitoring in the cardiac care unit of a hospital in Savar, where he is being closely observed by specialized doctors.

Tamim felt mild chest pain after the toss of the match and quickly informed the team's physiotherapist and trainer. Initially, it was suspected to be a gastric issue, but as his condition did not improve, he was taken to a nearby hospital. After receiving treatment, he returned to the BKSP, but when his condition worsened, he was swiftly transferred to the KEPJ Hospital and Nursing College in Savar. Following tests, a blockage was detected in his heart, and he was admitted to the hospital for further treatment.

Tamim Iqbal, who was the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club, is 36 years old and is considered one of the best batsmen in Bangladesh cricket. From 2007 to 2023, he participated in 391 international matches and scored over 15,000 runs. He is the only Bangladeshi batsman to have scored centuries in all three international formats.

Following Tamim's sudden illness, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) canceled its scheduled board meeting, and several board members have visited him in the hospital.
