At Least 3 Killed and 14 Injured in Shooting Incident in Las Cruces, New Mexico

Las Cruces, New Mexico – A shooting at a park in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has left at least three people dead and 14 others injured, according to local police. The horrific incident occurred on Friday night at Young Park, where music and entertainment activities were taking place.

According to the police, the injured victims, aged between 16 and 36, were sent to local hospitals and the University Medical Center in El Paso. Among the six patients taken to the Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, five were transferred to El Paso.

The victims who died included two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old teenager. However, the names of the deceased and other injured individuals have not been released.

The police are currently searching for suspects in connection with the incident and have asked locals to share videos and other information. Las Cruces City Councilor and Mayor Pro Tem Johana Bencomo expressed her condolences in an Instagram post on Saturday, stating, "It was truly a terrifying night, something you never expect, but now it feels like it could happen at any time."

To assist in the investigation, agents from the New Mexico State Police, Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office, FBI, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are providing support. The police are still on-site, and the area surrounding the park has been closed off to vehicle traffic.

Las Cruces, located on the banks of the Rio Grande near the Chihuahuan Desert, is situated about 66 kilometers (41 miles) north of the U.S.-Mexico border.
