Bangladesh Police Force Will Not Be Affected by US Visa Policy, Says DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media)

On Sunday (September 24th), DMP’s Deputy Commissioner (Media) Faruk Hossen stated that the United States’ visa policy would not impact the Bangladesh Police Force. He emphasized that the visa policy would not hinder the police’s operational efficiency.

According to Faruk Hossen, the US visa policy has been applied concerning some members of the law enforcement agencies. However, the exact individuals affected are unknown. If the visa restrictions are implemented, they may not be able to enter the country.

The Deputy Commissioner of DMP clarified that the US visa policy would not have any adverse effects on the Bangladesh Police Force, as they operate within the boundaries of the law. There should be no disruptions in their duties due to visa restrictions.

The United States announced a new visa policy for Bangladesh nationals on May 24th, focusing on the promotion of democracy and fair elections. The policy came into effect on September 22nd.

According to the US Department of State, the policy applies to government officials, members of opposition parties, current and former government employees, members of law enforcement agencies, individuals associated with the judiciary, and personnel of security services. It may also extend to their family members.
