The administration has been directed to be stricter in controlling commodity prices and maintaining normal market conditions in Bangladesh

PWD Minister R.M.A  Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury MP issued the directive at a meeting with government officials in Brahmanbaria on Saturday.

Addressing the main guests at the exchange of views meeting with government officials of Brahmanbaria district on Saturday, he said, “No concessions will be given to dishonest businessmen who engage in illegal profiteering or attempt to make excessive profits. Instead of just fines, those involved in price manipulation during the upcoming Ramadan will be sent straight to jail.”

The minister urged law enforcement agencies to take more effective measures to prevent terrorism and drug abuse. Earlier, the minister distributed winter clothes among the cold-affected people of the district.

Mohammad Habibur Rahman, deputy secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Public Administration, chaired the exchange of views meeting, where special guests included Kazi Wasi Uddin, secretary of the ministry. Representatives from various government departments of Brahmanbaria district were also present.

In the afternoon, the minister addressed a rally organized by the district Awami League at the district stadium. Speaking at the rally, he indirectly referred to the BNP-Jamaat alliance, saying that those who wanted to run the twelfth national parliamentary elections failed. Through a flawless, fair, and impartial election process, the people have given Bangladesh Awami League a majority in the parliament. Even if they try to create a volatile situation in the name of movement, it will not be tolerated, and law enforcement agencies will take appropriate legal action. The rally was attended by a large crowd, including leaders of the district Awami League and its various wings and allied organizations.
