Allegations regarding dual citizenship against Indian opposition leader Rahul Gandhi have recently resurfaced, sparking renewed debate. The controversy largely stems from reports that during the registration of a company in the United Kingdom in 2003, he allegedly declared himself as a British national. Petitioners have presented certain documents and emails in court to support these claims. In this context, the Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) issued a significant directive in April 2026. The court instructed the Uttar Pradesh police to file an FIR against Rahul Gandhi so that the matter can be investigated through a criminal inquiry.
